Hai friends,

I attended all the three rounds of interview at TCS, hyderabad. I would
like to share my experience with you so that it might help for the
kinda of questions they ask.

The interviews were so cool and we need not worry abt anything. The
very important thing is to keep yourself cool and confident and to give
frank answers. That's IT !!!!

I am attaching the txt files with the questions and answers (for the MR
and HR interviews) of my interviews. anyway, hope this helps you to get
an idea for preparation.

ALL THE BEST to all of you!!! @};- @};- @};- @};-

Regards,
Uresh.

write a simple query statement for retrieving rows from a table.
for this, i answered "select * from tablename" or "select field1,
field2,...., fieldn from tablename"

immediately he asked, what does "*" denote?
i told it is for all the fields.... again he asked is there any other
method to retrieve rows like this without using
"*" and "field names". i told i know only these two.

what is polymorphism, inheritance?

What is a virtual function?

they asked me abt my project and i explained.

altogether i could answer only to 70-75% of the questions. Also the
interviewers were friendly and they could get the answers in one or the
other way from me. If I could not answer a question, they asked me the
same indirectly (it happened for two to three questions).

hello kiran,

i attended the MR round jus on 29th, sep 04 (wed'day) and it went fine.
The person who interviewed me is Mr.Shiva and this is way i performed.

he asked me abt my education, family background and some technical
questions for which i gave answers.

First of all, i started out saying abt myself, passing onto my
educational qualifications for which i told i stood first and my strengths are
quick learning (with an example), self-motivated, communication skills
and interpersonal skills, etc. (here i quoted some examples that expose
them) and regarding my extracurricular activities involve delivering
seminars, attended national level technical meet at rvr & jc college of
engg at guntur and got 6th position in top 10 list of the c language
test held by ram informatics, vizag. (it almost went on for 5 min).

i gave answers for the technical q's except only one.

for the q why do u wanna join tcs?
i told that it is the best employer (source: dataquest survey), and
talked abt its vision, mission and the values saying that they r very
impressive for anyone to work in this company and brings honour to him. by
the time i am giving some more info regarding this question,

he prompted for "What tcs would get if u join?" - for which i answered
that i am quicklearner, has the flexibility to work at any time and
anywhere and can maintain good interpersonal skills to act as a team
member and can deal with any sort of project for which i can learn and do
the things within given time. (quoted my academic project is done through
self-learning as an example here).

he asked abt my project and i explained him. again he asked how did u
analyze the project and i explained the way i did.
also he asked what kinda of qs did u expect in this managerial
interview (technical or managerial): i answered that it is altogether the first
interview and so i dont know.

finally, he wished me all the best and to wait for the result in the
lobby.

they told that they would get back to us thru phone and the result is
still pending.

ur comments plz.

regards,
uresh

Conducted on 18th, october 2004, 20:00 hrs.
Lasted for 10 min.

I am glad to inform that it went fine and of course pretty easier than
the MR.

for the first ques: tell me abt urself - i highlighted that i stood
first in my class from my lower
classes and presently too. also told abt the extracurricular activities
- ncc training, 6th position
in top-ten list of c-language talent test, participation in the
national level tech meet at rvr & jc
engg. college, janmabhoomi participation, etc.

abt the strengths - i repeated the same that i told in the mr.

abt tcs - i dumped all that i know from the site.
i told that it is the best employer (source: dataquest survey), and
talked abt its vision, mission
and the values saying that they r very impressive for anyone to work in
this company also i told
that i got a good feedback from my senior who is working in chennai
which impressed me very much to
deliver my services to ur esteemed organisation and that too it brings
honour to whomever work in
this company.

apart from these, he asked abt whether i know abt the service agreement
- yes and ready for it.

what would u do if u r not selected for tcs? i would again try for this
company.

have u applied for any other companies so far? no, this is the only
company i have applied.

he asked do i have a passport? i told i applied for it, recently.

also asked would i be ready to take up offshore and overseas
assignments - i told am ready for it.

how do u feel abt this interview and how its going on? i told that its
fine and making me feel free
to express all that i know abt myself and the organization as well, to
the expectations of yours.

how do u feel since u have been out of ur home? i dont have any
feeling as such, becoz the ncc
training that i had during my graduation, taught me the way to take up
my life individually and so i
dont have any feeling of homesick or as such.

what r the languages do u know? i can speak english and telugu
fluently. in hindi, i am not that
much fluent, but even then i can manage better.

so what would you do if u r placed in a place like coimbattore, where
people dont speak hindi much?
i can communicate with them in english, since employees working in that
branch would definitely know
english and that the crux of the work place.

what is the biggest problem u have faced? nothing specific, but
sometimes, if i miss any class due
to unavoidable reasons, sometimes i would find it as greek and latin in
the middle of the subject.
but i use to take up my books immediately to cope up with the subject
and if i dont get it at that
instant, i used get it from my lecturers.

During the interview, the interviewer said... "good aspirations" for
two times.

atlast, he told that some of our group would turn up to intimate but
not sure abt the time.
